First, returning to our overview of the whole theater to reorient ourselves.


Here's a good overview of the campaign area, including the Allied lines (blue) and Paraguayan lines (red) during the Long Pause from September 1866 to July 1867. Note the extensive Paraguayan lines below the fortress, known to the Allies as the "Quadrilateral."
